GMN Bearing
A worldwide leader in the production of high-frequency machine spindles, GMN Bearing understands the demanding standards machine tool spindle bearings must meet. Whether they’re steel or ceramic, GMN’s high-precision bearings meet or exceed the requirements for speed, load capacity, and radial and axial stiffness. Built for engineers, spindle rebuilders, and distributors, GMN makes spindle bearings for high-speed, low-friction applications.
GMN, short for Georg Müller Nürnberg, opened as a mechanical workshop in Nuremberg, Germany in 1908. The same family has run the company for four generations. They manufacture high-precision ball bearings, machine spindles, freewheel clutches, and non-contact seals, all of the highest quality. GMN’s quality standards exceed ISO standards and cover their products’ full life cycle. They’re particular about their materials sourcing, testing and measurement, and assembly, too. Their bearings are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified, RoHS certified and compliant, and conflict mineral free.
Alpine stocks GMN’s machine tool spindle bearings because of their quality. We trust GMN’s century-plus of expertise in making high-precision, high-performance, long-lasting spindle bearings.
GMN Bearing features
GMN’s spindle bearings offer these features:
-
- Bores between 5 and 120mm
-
- Nominal contact angles from 15°–25°
-
- Finely balanced for even rotation at high RPMs
-
- Capable of handling large radial and axial loads
GMN chooses its materials with care. The bearings’ internal and external rings are made of vacuum-degassed 100Cr6 chrome stainless steel. GMN heat stabilizes their parts to operate at continuous temperatures of up to 150°C with short-term heat resistance up to 180°C and through-hardens them to between 60 and 64 HRC.
GMN manufactures their prototypes under production conditions, so they know their bearings will be high-quality and identical from the moment they enter mass production. They make their bearings to the highest precision standards, bringing generations of expertise to every process. GMN’s precision measurement department checks every product’s hardness, topography, tolerances, shape, and size. They compare their measurements to Physikalisch-Technische-Bundesanstalt [Physical Technical Federal Technological Institute] standards in a sound-isolated, air-conditioned fine measurement area.
