Schatz Bearing Corporation manufactures precision and custom bearings for the aerospace and industrial markets. They supply Alpine Bearing with thin section, deep groove and airframe control bearings, manufacturing their components in their AS9100 Rev D/ISO9001:2015-certified facility in Poughkeepsie NY.

The company was founded in 1896 in New Haven, CT. In 1910, they moved to Poughkeepsie and began supplying the growing automobile industry. They expanded, building a campus of brick factories and employing as many as 1,200 workers during the Second World War.

In the 1980’s, Schatz went through a downturn and the sale of some assets. Later, Walter Pomeroy purchased the company and began producing high-end custom bearings to fulfill the needs of the most demanding aerospace, semiconductor, and medical equipment industries. His son, Stephen, became president of the company in 1992, after studying Japanese manufacturing methods. Schatz ascribes to Lean Manufacturing and provides employees with intensive training.

Schatz Bearing Corporation recently won its 6th consecutive Boeing Performance Excellence Award, maintaining delivery records of 100% on-time and 100% quality in its shipments to the aerospace giant.

In 2021, Schatz introduced a new seal design for advanced bearings used in aerospace applications. The seal does a superior job of keeping bearing grease in, and blocking external contaminants such as de-icing and hydraulic fluids.

Schatz is flexible enough to make a variety of bearing types and sizes, including custom bearings. Their versatility has helped to make them the solution for the aerospace, robotics, automation, and construction and agriculture industries.

For precision, custom, or small-batch bearings, Schatz is always a great choice.
